Chile - Portugal - The Netherlands
As I sit in the beautiful surroundings of the Algarve (Portugal) with my family,
I thought I'd give you a quick update on what's going on.
It's been about 10 years since Rob and I actually took a week's vacation. I must say: it's a strange feeling driving around in a foreign country without having to play a show :-)
First of all: I'm still shocked by the aftermath of the massive earthquake that struck Chile on Saturday. I have visited Chile several times and I've always been welcomed with open arms, open hearts and open minds. I'm working very hard to set up a special event in order to be able to support the people of Chile. Expect some more news this monday!
Last weekend my series of Dutch gigs ended. There was something really cozy and special about this tour. Our dear friend Pim van Zanen joined us on additional guitars. We had super nice crowds in all venues. In Alkmaar we played with a great and high-spirited rhythm tandem of bassist Menno Bouma and drummer Guido Elshof. That weekend Rob and Jacques were working in my home studio with Kyuss singer John Garcia. I was thrilled to meet John at my home and he turned out to be a very nice and cool guy. Last weekend we also said goodbye to Joris, who will take a parental leave. If all goes well, he might share the stage with us... ah, can't tell you more just yet ;-)
I'll be auditioning back-up guitar players in a few weeks. Thanks to all the talented players (from across the globe) who applied for the job.

Fortunately Santiago (the place where I live) has not too damage, but the aftershocks don't stop and is terrible watch the TV and see how people is suffering in Concepción and all those cities near it, and we can't do so much to help them.
